Information Architecture for Michael

Do you think this is a role that you might want to take on, or does the role of IA sound so boring that you wouldn't touch it with a 6ft pole?
Information architecture is an important role because it enables Web developers to produce Web sites that fulfil their objectives. Without IA, information may not reach the intended audience. As a result Web designers and IAs must work together, particularly on large projects where they share the same goals. Even with small projects requring only one Web designer there is no escape, for IA must be embraced alone. In essence, a Web designer is a Web developer because it incorporates IA. Visual presentation cannot exist without proper communication. To be a Web designer also means one is an IA.

What the heck does Information Architecture have to do with the way we code our pages? Any ideas?
By coding in line with W3C standards and thus applying IA principles, better design workflow and improved communication between design teams is obtained. Three key ways to do this include:
-Making your site map references CSS compatible
-Identifying hierarchies
-Cataloging.
